  7. Laser therapy involves the use of high-
  8. intensity light to destroy tumor cells .  Lasers
  9. are fairlynew weapons in the anticancer
  10. arsenal, and their role is still limited. In a
  11. few select cases laser therapy can cure a
  12. cancer. But the technique is now used
  13. mainly to relieve serious symptoms such
  14. as bleeding or obstruction, especially when
  15. the cancer can't be cured by surgery, radiation
  16. or chemotherapy or when standard treatment
  17. can't be used because of advanced age, malnutrition
  18. or heart or pulmonary disease.
